Event description
Employee killed in 18 ft fall from scaffold
Investigation abstract
Employee #1, a foreman, and a coworker, a carpenter, were installing metal wall framing and wallboard in a reception area of an industrial building under constr uction. They were using a scissor lift scaffold with a railing on the back side of the platform. Employee #1 was working from the scaffold and the coworker was at floor level, cutting and handing metal studs and wallboard to Employee #1, wh o then installed the material from the scaffold. When he got to the final wall o f the room, Employee #1 maneuvered the scaffold into position with the railing t oward the wall. While installing materials, he fell 18 ft from the platform and fractured his skull. He was killed.
