An employee was running the turn table and used a chipper to remove flash from a mold. A flash dropped down into the core pool area; the employee put the table in manual mode so he could manually remove it. The other employee at the table misunderstood what the employee was doing and actuated the part of the turn table, which caused the core to move and amputate the injured employee's right middle finger at the first knuckle.
