An employee was helping a forging hammer operator and was attempting to release a part lodged inside the hammer. The employee's hand tool became caught inside the point of operation and broke when the machine cycled. A piece of the hand tool ejected and struck the employee, breaking bones and lacerating the employee's leg. The employee was hospitalized for surgery.
