MARIETTA, GEORGIA—
Tip Top Poultry, Inc.
Caught in running equipment or machinery during regular operation · Fractures
Final narrative
An employee was waiting for the operator to start-up the machine and had her right hand resting flat on top of the turn-wheel, partially supporting her weight. When the operator started the machine, the turn-wheel rotated her right hand towards the opening where the giblets drop to be pushed into the package. As a result, her hand entered the opening as the push arm was actuated causing fractures to some small hand bones and a 1/4" puncture (depth) wound to the back of her hand from a bolt.
