Final narrative
An employee was completing manual swabbing procedures of the blank side of a forming machine. This procedure involves stopping the desired section and inserting a lubricated cotton swab to apply lubricant to the mold cavity and surrounding parts. The employee turned away from the machine to replenish the lubricant on the swab. He then inserted the swab in a section just to the left of the sections he'd previously stopped, resulting in molten glass falling onto his right hand. He sustained thermal bums to his hand.
