An employee had to go inside an HVAC unit to conduct troubleshooting and repairs. The employee shut off power to the HVAC unit and entered it. The employee placed a hand on the box, which slipped off. The employee s hand then contacted the HVAC unit s belt and pulley, suffering a laceration and tissue damage to the right index finger and small cuts to the middle and ring fingers. The employee was hospitalized. The HVAC unit was not locked/tagged out and the blower unit had not come to a complete stop at the time of the incident.
