An employee was working on a cable for an aircraft door. The employee noticed the cable was sticking out while another employee was closing the aircraft door. The employee attempted to quickly insert the cable before the door fully closed, and the door closed on the employee's finger, resulting in a left index finger amputation below the first knuckle.
