A material handler was running an overhead crane from on top of a table, stacking one rip cut plate onto another to create a two-piece lift. As he approached the edge of the table, carrying one piece on the crane, the injured employee came up to the table and tried to help him line up the piece on the magnet with the piece that was on the table. The injured employee's hands were on top of the plate that was on the magnet. As the plate on the magnet was lowered onto the plate on the table, the employee's finger was pinched between the two plates, cutting off his right ring fingertip above the knuckle.
