An employee was using a vertical boring mill to machine a motor housing. The employee was standing on a portable staircase. They engaged the rapid travelling function on the ram to remove the motor housing from the work table. A fabricated handle on the adjustment wheel struck the employee's head, causing them to fall approximately 4 feet from the stairs to the floor. The employee was hospitalized with a depressed fracture of their skull, a displaced fracture of their shoulder, multiple rib fractures, and a concussion.
