Final narrative
An employee was pulling a spud pin out of a barge's rear spud. Before he could get the spud all the way out, the spud was lowered, causing the pin to jump up and strike him on the left side of the face. He was hospitalized with a fractured orbital bone and mandible, requiring surgery.
