A truck driver was sitting in a stopped pickup truck with the driver-side door open in the left shoulder median of I-95 southbound, checking truck access areas for an I-95 northbound paving work area. The employee's pickup truck was then struck by a tractor trailer, and both vehicles spun and ended up in the trees on the right side of I-95 southbound. The employee was thrown from his vehicle and impacted the ground, suffering a head injury, fractured ribs, and a fractured femur. He was hospitalized.
