An employee using a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe was loading a piece of ram shaft and was using his left hand to hold the tailstock. When the button was pushed to tighten the tailstock, in began to close, and the employee's left thumb and index finger were crushed between the piece of material and the tailstock. The employee's left index finger was medically amputated.
