Two employees were feeding tree parts into a chipper with a winch attached. The injured employee grabbed the winch rope and it was pulled quickly above the chipper infeed chute, catching the employee's hand between the winch rope and protective cover opening over the rope and pulleys. They sustained a crushing injury and amputation to the right index finger above the second knuckle.
