Final narrative
An employee was using a grinder to deburr a flat piece of steel when the welding glove on the employee's left hand became caught in the drive wheel. The employee's left thumb was pulled between the abrasive belt and the tool rest, resulting in a partial amputation of the thumb including the loss of the thumbnail. The thumb was also lacerated.
