An employee was chipping and vacuuming hardened sodium sulfate within the ductwork of a precipitator. During this process, a solid piece of sodium sulfate, measuring 6x8 inches, dislodged from the wall of the ductwork and struck the employee. The employee sustained fractures to a rib and shoulder blade, a laceration to the chin, and bruising to the left shoulder and upper arm.
