An employee had just backed a trailer up to the yard mule to prime the trailer. The employee got onto the driver-side tires of the yard mule and began priming when the diesel engine began turning over. The employee slipped, causing his left hand to enter the engine compartment of the trailer. His left middle or index fingertip was amputated.
