Final narrative
On November 27, 2023, an employee was using a hammer and scraper to clean a block machine. The employee was on top of the block machine approximately 6-7 feet in the air and their full-body harness was attached to an overhead retractable lifeline. Their retractable lanyard cable got caught in the shaft of an overhead conveyor, causing the employee to be pulled against the conveyor belt. The employee was hospitalized with fractures to the vertebrae and sternum, a lacerated liver, and bruising to the lungs and ribs.
