An employee was operating a horizontal saw dust belt in the chipper room when he noticed a piece of wood sticking out of the conveyor that was preventing the conveyor from running. The employee went to pull the wood free and their right hand was pulled into the chain and sprocket system Their middle fingertip was amputated without bone loss. The machine was not locked out/tagged out, and a guard was in place at the time.
