An employee was controlling the flow of wooden pallet blocks between a three-strand chain conveyor and a machine that cuts the ends to length. The blocks measured 6 inches by 6 inches by 4 feet. The end of a block dropped onto the employee's right middle finger, crushing it against the metal conveyor and resulting in an amputation of a section of the fingertip.
