An employee was assisting a crane operator in lifting a 6-inch-diameter pipe over a 2-inch-diameter pipe when the load lowered, causing the employee's right ring finger to be pinched between the 6-inch pipe and a pipe rack. The employee suffered an amputation of the right ring finger from the nail bed to the tip.
