On October 16, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., an employee was working in a 6-foot-deep trench and cleaning an electrical conduit line with a shovel. As the employee was removing material from above the pipe, the west side of the trench collapsed and struck the employee in the lower back and torso, pinning him in the ditch. The employee was hospitalized with 12 fractured ribs and 4 fractured vertebrae in his lower back.
