An employee of Bilson, LLC, was standing on a wood joist, part of a mezzanine structure that was being demolished. When the plywood sheet over the joist was removed, the joist fell, causing the employee to fall to the concrete floor about 12 feet below. The employee was hospitalized, having suffered fractures to the lower back above the tailbone, a broken bone on the back of the shoulder, and a skull fracture around the ear toward the back of the head. Fall protection was not being worn at the time of the incident.
