Final narrative
An employee was elevated 10-12 feet in the bucket of a bucket truck to install a fiber line between elevated poles at an intersection. The intersection was closed, with police supporting work zone traffic control,. The employee began switching their safety lanyard securement point from one anchorage point to another on the bucket. At the same time, an approaching box truck was directed to turn left at the intersection. However, the box truck proceeded straight ahead and struck the elevated bucket. The bucket swung, causing the employee to strike the box truck before falling to the road. The employee suffered a fractured right ankle.
