A plant employee was working to open a valve from an elevated platform, using a pipe to provide extra leverage. The pipe slipped and the employee fell from the platform onto a nearby scissor lift. The total distance of the fall was less than 45 inches. The employee's abdomen struck a railing on the scissor lift, resulting in three fractured ribs.
