Final narrative
An employee was working on an 18-foot ladder placed on a telephone pole to connect a fiber internet drop line to a customer's residence. The feet of the ladder were on the customer's blacktop driveway. The employee ascended the ladder and was attaching their safety strap to the pole when the base of the ladder kicked away from the pole. The employee fell from the ladder and landed on a grassy area adjacent to the pole, resulting in a compound fracture to the left humerus. The employee was hospitalized and required surgery.
