Final narrative
An employee was wrapping a pallet that had come off the production line because the in-line automatic wrapper malfunctioned. He was at the back of the wrapper station where the emergency stop was tripped on the machine. When he reached for the emergency stop with his left hand, he missed the handle, and the tip of his right little finger was caught in the chain and sprocket as it was still turning on the top of the wrapping head. The employee suffered a partial amputation of the finger.
