What happened
The IP did not notice they placed their finger between the pieces of wood that needed to be crated together. They then used the plastic mallet to align the pieces of wood and in doing so their finger was between the pieces of wood. As they struct the wood it caused their finger to be compressed between the two pieces of wood.
