Before the incident
Employee was transfering hot wort to Whirpool 2. The act requires the individual to open various valves to ensure the liquid moves to the correct location.
What happened
As the employee opened the valves to move the wort the liquid reached the whirlpool and built up pressure. The resulting pressure caused the wort to backflow into a section of piping that had been dismantled the [REDACTED]. The dismantled section was not properly locked out or tagged out. The dismantled section was just above the employee 's head when the wort expelled onto his neck back and shoulders.

The resulting contact with the hot wort caused 2nd degree burns to the neck and back.
