What happened
After administering [REDACTED] and Vitamin K vaccine to infant I walked over to the sharps container to dispose of the needles. I put the Vitamin K in first and went to put the [REDACTED] needle in the top of the container when I was stuck in the pad of my right thumb by the needle from the [REDACTED] Upon examining it was found to be faulty as the needle was sticking out of the safety cap. I then removed my gloves bled the finger and washed my hands returned to the nursery where I informed the nursery charge who called the supervisor to ask what the steps I needed to take for a needle stick were. I then told the Floor charge nurse that I was going downstairs to the ER to follow the needle stick protocol.
