After administering initial injection of local at the beginning of the procedure the provider stuck himself in the finger with the used hypodermic needle. As the case had began just previously no precipitating factors were noted. In this future this could be prevented with the identification of a safe spot to set the syringe once used so it could be safely picked up and handed back. The patient did not suffer injury.
