Before the incident
employee attempted to clear the lodged pipe by moving two other pieces of pipe behind the lodged pipe.
What happened
The pipe was lodged under a lower a rail guard and after he moved the pipe from the mandrel the switch sensor was activated causing the lodged pipe to come under pneumatic pressure of the pipe moving mechanism to the turner. Once the employee cleared the lodged pipe from the underneath the rail guard it engaged the pipe moving arms and raised the lodged portion of the pipe directly upward and causing the end of the pipe to make contact the employees ' torso area causing a contusion. The employee was given a prescription for pain and written on restrictions making this an OSHA recordable medical treatment case with restrictions.
