He was holding a hand held wet pneumatic driven polishing tool with a hard surface polishing pad in his left hand with his fingers wrapped around the pad from the pad side. He was holding the tool the opposite of how he should have been.

The tool started when his body position and hand movement allowed the ON OFF switch to lower and to contact the edge of the work table. This caused polishing pad to turn in his hand.

The inside of his left index finger - within the first pad - received a deep laceration. 4 stitches were required.

The edge of the hard surface polishing pad caused the injury when it started turning.
