Before the incident
attempting to get a large item into the hopper of the rear load garbage truck.
What happened
The employee arrived at a stop that had 2 large items a washing machine and a dryer. The employee successfully loaded the dryer in by himself. The washing machine was too heavy for him to pick up by hand so he used the winch cable to lift it into the hopper of the rear load garbage truck. As he was lifting the washer he used the toter tipper to assist with lifting it into the hopper of the rear load garbage truck. As the washer was being lifted into the hopper the winch cable failed and the washing machine shifted to the passenger side of the hopper. The employee has his hand partially on the guard of the passenger side hopper. When the washing machine shifted it smashed into his left hand that was resting on the guard of the hopper.
