The associate and another co-worker were repacking a container of steel blank pieces.

The injured associate and their co-worker were lifting steel blanks together. As they were near the container the co-worker did not communicate with the injured associate that they were dropping the blanks. As the co-worker dropped the blanks the injured associates ' fingers became pinched in between the steel blank pieces.
