Before the incident
Cutting chicken Shoulders
What happened
EE reports that he was doing his normal Job duties cutting shoulders on the cone line. As EE was cutting one of the chickens it fell off of the cone and EE tried to catch the falling chicken resulting in a stab wound type of laceration to his right inner thigh approximately 9 inches above his knee. EE immediately came to the nurses office joined by supervisory staff. Laceration Stab Wound is approximately 1 in long X 1 in deep. EE was actively bleeding upon arrival. Clothing was removed and Pants and Thermal underwear were saturated with blood from mid thigh down to ankle. Pressure was applied and bleeding was brought under control within one minute. Gauze was folded and placed to continue compression to the wound site and secured in place with self adherent medical wrap. EE began relating that he was feeling light headed and dizzy and his complexion was pale. Ambulance was summoned due to the depth of the laceration and proximity to the femoral artery.
