What happened

On [REDACTED] while out conducting a 3999 with Mr. [REDACTED] on [REDACTED] we pulled up to an apartment complex called Misty Waters off [REDACTED] While sitting inside of the postal vehicle I noticed a group of young men standing in the breezeway of one of the apartments entries. I didn’t feel comfortable getting out of the vehicle but I had no choice since I was conducting a 3999. After about 2 minutes I exited the vehicle and proceeded to count the vacancies in the CBU’s. As soon as I turned my back to the young men they pulled out guns and started shooting towards the direction I was in. I was not sure if they were shooting at us or shooting at someone else. At first I was in complete shock and didn’t know what was going on. I looked towards the breeze way which was about 8-10 feet away from where we they were standing from. I saw the guns and it startled me. I started to scream. My employee told me to get down and duck. I fell to the ground and could not breathe.
