Patient care procedure

After 3mm punch biopsy of patient 's leg I was holding suture while deciding if additional suture placement was necessary and nicked my glove and superficially on my left thumb with the needle. patient did not need additional suture so I placed the suture on the tray used my other hand to apply vaseline and the bandaid. after incident I washed my hand thoroughly with soap and water reported to supervising attending Dr. [REDACTED] in clinic. We explained the situation to the patient and ordered labs for her to obtain. I went to LIJ ER for eval.
