What happened
While the pipe was rising up he was checking for a sticker and turned. When he turned he placed his hand on the pipe to keep his balance and the riser did not work correctly and instead of the pipe kicking over to the rollway it lifted and fell back onto the table smashing his thumb between it and the next pipe.
