Employee was welding on a striker bar assembly. He had welded the one side and was rotating the assembly around to the other side. A steel leveling block jib is positioned under the striker bar assembly to level the part so it can be welded level instead of on a slope.

As he was rotating the assembly with his gloved hands one side of the assembly dropped to the top of the worktable and his right index finger was caught between the assembly and the worktable causing a contusion and a fracture to the tip of his finger. The assembly had caught on an elevated piece of slag on the table. The table should have been grinded smooth.
