Before the incident
I was attempting to place a central venous catheter. When I attempted to remove the guidewire at the conclusion of the procedure there was significant resistance. The wire itself started ot unravel. I pulled the catheter with the wire as a unit out and then was able to remove the wire and confirmed it to be intact. However as I was disposing of the wire the sharp inner core of the wire touched my glove and I could not immediately tell if it had punctured it until later.
