Before the incident
On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] a driver with 10 years of employment ([REDACTED] [REDACTED]) Was dropping and hooking at the [REDACTED] The driver was attempting to hook to the trailer they were to transfer to the [REDACTED] DSC and found it to be dropped too high and could not hook to the king pin with the fifth wheel The driver began lowering the landing gear of the trailer to obtain the proper height to hook and in the process paused to switch from low to high range in the gear box When they did so the driver did not engage the handle fully onto the shaft and as they began to crank again the handle slipped from the shaft The force caused the driver to fall to the ground at which time they sustained a strain to their left hip The driver did not contact EHS until after they completed their shift at which time the driver was already at the Local Emergency Room The driver was prescribed medication but was released with no restrictions A full investigation is ongoing
