Before the incident
Employee had dropped his folding knife equipped with a hook blade. The knife partially opened upon impact with the roof surface.
What happened
Employee failed to notice that the folding knife had partially opened exposing the hook blade. After picking up the knife and returning to the standing position the tip of the blade caught the employee 's pants just above the knee. The momentum obtained from returning to the standing position pulled the blade up and it cut through his pants and into his leg.
