haul out fittings with forklift

Employee was about to haul out fabrication fittings to staging area. He was driving the ([REDACTED] [REDACTED]) forklift forward released gas entirely and reached back and grabbed edge of the door frame while also applying pressure to the brake pedal. The door of the forklift then swung (outward from truck) forward and back slamming onto the right thumb of employee. Door slammed on employees thumb and he heard a loud snapping noise. instantly starting bleeding and yelled out. Got off forklift to find supervisor and left forklift in (forward) gear and running with parking brake on.
