What happened

I had a patient that recently delivered her infant and the recovery period post-delivery was about to start. After the LPN attached the end of the bed on the Stryker labor bed we took the patients legs off the stirrups and placed them on the bed. At tha t moment the removable end portion of the bed came off and landed on the floor. We quickly gathered the patient 's legs she was an epiduralized patient and did not have the ability to hold them and placed them back on the stirrups. The LPN then resituate d and replaced the end of the bed appropriately and locked it into place. We both assessed that it was stable and with our inspection and trained knowledge it was. We placed the legs of the patient on the end of the bed and it again failed. In the midst of the bed falling off again and to ensure no harm was done to the patient I caught her legs with my right arm.
