Before the incident
The operator was using a piston pin removal machine (press) to adjust a piston pin that was misaligned during the assembly process.
What happened
The operator did not have the piston pin securely in the press and took his hand off the control lever. As the removal tool was lowering the piston shifted pinching the operator 's finger between the outer wall of the machine and the rod that bent downward.
