Before the incident
In preparation for daily job removing die grinder from top of open babbitt mold
What happened
Employee was utilizing the Babbit mold to build plates. A die grinder was on top of the open Babbit mold. The employee placed one hand on top of the Babbit mold while reaching for and removing the die grinder with the other hand. The air hose attached to the die grinder inadvertently contacted the operational button causing the mold to close on employees finger. Injury consisted of a hairline fingertip fracture and 4 stitches to close the wound. Employee was utilizing the Babbit mold to build plates. A die grinder was on top of the open Babbit mold.
