What happened
Immediately after giving the injection in the patients left deltoid I pulled the needle out with my right hand trying to push the safety to close it. The safety was not able to close the needle all the way. Because my left hand was holding the patient 's arm my left top of thumb received a needlestick and it started to bleed.
