Preparing a tool for installation on Press 5 work table.

What happened

Maintenance technician started shift normally and was preparing a tool for installation at our press 5 worktable. The Supervisor on shift notified the technician they are needed for another task when completed with the mold. Our facility has 8 presses and only one worktable by press 5. The tool was already seperated on the table from the previous days work. The technician began rushing to prep the tool and went to pull apart the ejector plate that was bound up and could not unbind this plate from the top using a pry bar. A visual inspection was done and the employee felt all bolts to secure the back plate were in place. The technician then lifted the tool with the crane around 6 inches above the work table to be able to pry the bottom of the ejector plate in the hopes of unbinding it. Once pressure was applied between the ejector plate the back plate fell off landing on the technicians left hand and arms.
