Before the incident
Employee was riding as a passenger in a [REDACTED] hauling dirt in the back of the [REDACTED]. They were on a gravel driveway which had a downward slope and a sharper curve at the bottom of the hill.
What happened
We believe that speed was an issue with this accident as well as the additional weight from the dirt. The driver was unable to slow the UTV for the curve and they ended up hitting a tree at the bottom of the hill. This impact caused the employee 's (passenger) right knee to impact the glove box area directly infront of him injuring his knee.
Injury or illness
Employee needed surgery for patellar tendon repair. He stayed overnight due to the knee surgery.
