Before the incident

Cleaning a reef aquarium. Hand was submerged which had a small open cut. The cleaning occurred [REDACTED] but the onset of the infection occurred [REDACTED].

What happened

I noticed my hand and the area around the cut becoming increasingly swollen red and painful. Once I had time to really assess it the injury infection looked really bad and was getting worse quickly. I immediately left work to go to the ER at this point.

Infection in hand and arm. Pain redness swelling.

Unknown origin. Most likely some type of irritant chemical or bacteria that made it 's way into my skin via open cut. Doctors never did determine the exact nature of the infection as it wasn 't critical to the treatment.
